The magic of mulch.

Mulch is material such as decaying leaves, bark or compost that can be spread around a garden to enrich or insulate soil. Using mulch helps retain moisture for your garden, protects plants from soil-borne diseases, reduces weed growth and improves your yard’s drainage.

Use mulch on unplanted areas of your yard to create an easy finished look, under trees to prevent grass and weed growth, and around vegetables and flower beds to save water.

Permeable surfaces.

Permeable surfaces are paving surfaces that let water flow through them. For example: gravel, sand, mulch beds, and even specific types of asphalt or concrete.

Walkways that use bark, gravel or stepping stones allow water to soak into the soil of your yard. They will improve your backyard by saving water, reducing runoff and regulating temperature.
